Medical ID, worn beautifully.

What a paramedic sees

It takes seconds. There’s no app to open, no phone signal needed and no battery to run flat.

    The front

The medical symbol tells a paramedic to look on the back. Above it sits our gold-tone MediWear mark, so to everyone else it’s simply jewellery.

  2. The back of a silver-tone Guardian pendant, engraved with a name, date of birth and NHS number

    The back

The details you chose, such as your name, a condition, an allergy or someone to call. Engraved clearly enough to read at arm’s length.

    Amlodipine 5mg, once a day

If you add your NHS number

We recommend it. In England, the crew can use it to look up your Summary Care Record: the medicines you take, your allergies, and any bad reactions you’ve had.

Why we recommend your NHS number

Choose the one you’ll actually wear

If it looks medical, it ends up in a drawer. So each piece is jewellery first: a silver-tone or gold-tone finish with a white enamel front, designed in London and engraved by us.

The Guardian pendant resting on brown quilted velvet

Silver-tone · rectangular · 32 × 22 mm

Largest lettering. Easiest to read.

The Heritage pendant, a gold-tone teardrop, resting on brown quilted velvet

Gold-tone · teardrop · 38 × 28 mm

Gold-tone. Most like fine jewellery.

The Lifeline pendant, a slim silver-tone bar, resting on brown quilted velvet

Silver-tone · slim bar · 40 × 14 mm

The slimmest. Sits neatly under clothes.

Why we started

What if that’s me one day?

Majoon, my grandmother, after a friend’s husband spent 36 hours in hospital listed as an unknown patient.

A few weeks later Majoon fainted getting off the bus after her weekly shop. She was all right, but the paramedics had no way of knowing her blood pressure tablets had just been changed.

The medical IDs we found either looked clinical or charged a yearly fee to store her details. So we made one she’d be happy to wear.

It says “I’m prepared”, not “I’m unwell”.

Traditional medical IDs are designed to be noticed. Ours are designed to be worn every day, with everything, by people who’d rather not be defined by their health.

The medical symbol on the front is still easy for a paramedic to recognise. Everyone else just sees a nice necklace.

See your details on the back

Type a name and one thing a paramedic should know. On each pendant’s page you can fill in up to four lines and turn the pendant round in 3D before you order.

Buying for a parent or grandparent?

Many of our pendants are chosen by a son, daughter or grandchild. A few things make it easier.

  • Engrave what matters to them, such as a condition, an allergy or who to call. Ask them what they’d want a stranger to know.
  • Add a gift message and we’ll write it on a card in the box.
  • Send it straight to them. Delivery is free and tracked to any UK address.
  • Not sure yet? Choose a blank pendant now and have it engraved later.

Questions people ask us

Will a paramedic know to look for it?

Ambulance crews routinely check for medical jewellery around the neck and wrist when someone can’t tell them what’s wrong. The medical symbol on the front of every pendant tells them to look on the back.

What should I have engraved?

Whatever a paramedic most needs to know about you. Most people start with their name, then add a condition, an allergy, a medicine or someone to call. You only need one line, and you can have up to four.

Our engraving guide has examples.

Do I have to add my NHS number?

No, it’s up to you. We recommend it, because in England it lets ambulance crews look up your Summary Care Record: your medicines, your allergies and any bad reactions to medicines. Your GP keeps that record up to date, so it stays right even when your medicines change.

In Scotland you can add your CHI number instead, and in Northern Ireland your Health and Care number.

Is there a subscription or yearly fee?

No. You pay once for the pendant, and that’s it. We don’t store your medical details, and there’s nothing to renew.
