MediWear in The Archer
Our local paper in East Finchley told the story of how MediWear began. Here’s what it covered, where to read it, and a thank-you.

The Archer is East Finchley’s free monthly community newspaper, run by volunteers. In its October 2025 issue, on page 9, Gail Norcliffe wrote a piece about MediWear called “Grandmother’s fall inspires wearable ID”.
What the paper covered
The article told the story of how MediWear started with two things: my grandmother, Majoon, fainting while she was out, and an older friend of the family being taken to hospital unconscious, with nothing on him to say who he was. Majoon got home safely. Our friend couldn’t be identified by hospital staff for 36 hours, and his family were distraught.
It explained why Majoon wouldn’t wear the medical IDs that already existed: she found them unattractive, and she didn’t want to be labelled as sick. So I spent a year working on something she would wear. The paper quoted what I said about it:
“I wanted to create something my grandma would actually wear, something that could speak for her to paramedics and healthcare professionals if she was ever unable to speak for herself.”
Kya Mobasheri, quoted in The Archer, October 2025
It also explained how a name, date of birth and NHS number on the back can help paramedics and hospital staff reach someone’s health records quickly. And it finished with Majoon, who is happy to wear hers.
